Three weeks of work in three days
About this event: GKP Annual Meeting 2004

It's hard for me to believe that the GKP Annual Meeting hasn't even started yet.... Nick, Sunit, Leticia and I have already been meeting for 3 days down - usually from 9 AM until 11 PM. I feel like we've been able to break through a lot of mental obstacles that had us stuck over the past few months from making the kind of progress we wanted to. It's incredible how much you can get done in face-to-face meetings; the quality of brainstorming is so much better.

A quick summary of what we've been kicking around:
* Drop the idea of YCDO as a coalition - YCDO started out as a great framework for mobilizing people. We got a bit lost and bogged down when we shifted over to trying to create a more formal organizational structure. Tomorrow, we're meeting with the GKP ExComm to propose that we get rid of any type of formal coalition membership. YCDO will be a framework, anchored by organizations within the GKP. We're suggesting setting ourselves up as a taskforce within the GKP, which would primarily serve as the "keepers of the vision".
* Reframed the GKP Youth Internship Programme as a GKP Junior Fellows Programme - This gives us the potential of being able to provide 3-month placements (with an hnorarium/fellowship) for young people to work with specific GKP members in their city/country. More from Leticia on this later...
* Fleshing out the Youth ICT Social Enterprise Fund - We just finished two days of intensive brainstorming. Sunit is a god of understanding what's necessary! I'm really looking forward to moving this idea ahead and being able to start raising funds for youth-led projects.

this sounds pretty good
so there will be some change, all in all it looks like things are becoming more manageable and pragmatic - without leaving the vision behind. that's very good, I think.

Thanks for keeping us updated, Terri!
