Dancing Cars

Ok... so call me a geek, and banish me to the deepest levels of consumerist patsy hell - but I LOVE the new Citroen car ad!

Do you think we can get Neill Blomkamp of Spy Films to create a non-consumerist ad this cool??

Healthy Kids, Healthy Futures - Manitoba Task Force

Those of you in Manitoba, Canada should consider participating in the January public workshops on youth, physical activity and health sponsored by the provincial government. The task force wishes to identify priorities, initiatives and actions that can be implemented over the short, medium and long-term to provide supportive healthy living environments for Manitoba's children. If you can't make the meetings, it's still worth reading the discussion document and participating in the online survey! They really want to hear from young people directly!

Born to Run

Who knew?!?! According to the journal "Nature", it's possible that a good deal of human anatomy may have evolved as the species engaged in endurance running.

All I know is that it may have taken Linda 8 years, but she has now convinced me to take up jogging. I found a "walk-to-run" program online through the Melrose Running Club in the US and have been following it. It basically tries to shift you over 10 weeks to being able to jog for 30 minutes straight. But, you can take as many weeks as you need to do it in. I've been doing Week 3 for 2 weeks since I found the jump from jogging 3 minutes straight to 5 minutes straight to be BRUTAL. But, I can feel the difference..

Don't know if I'm feeling more human yet or anything, but I do know that I'm not imploding from stress as much these days. That's always a good thing.

Frivolous gender wars

On a completely random and shallow note, is anyone else enjoying Survivor Vanuatu nearly as much as I am at the moment? I keep laughing as the producers' try to set things up as some kind of gender war with the men against the women. It's so entirely manipulated.

I am in hysterics watching Sarge FUME over the influence that Ami has on the women. He is so convinced that as a bisexual, she's trying to charm the socks off all of the women and "bring them under her power." In reality, for a military guy, he just doesn't have a clue about different leadership styles or what it takes to build loyalty amongst women. It's very different than trying to get guys to cooperate on something. Ask any junior high teacher....

And on an even more random note... why don't they ever do "Survivor Yukon"? Is it just because the ratings would drop if people had parkas on? I think it would be fascinating if they had to deal with real wildlife like bear and moose wandering through the camp.

Dear Blue States

On behalf of the Canadian people, I would like to extend an offer to the lovely blue states in America to leave the USA and join Canada as provinces. This would be relatively simple since you've so nicely clustered yourself in contiguous blocks which touch the Canadian border.

The benefits of this would be enormous for us all:
1) The Great Lakes would be within Canada, making it easier to regulate environmental issues and shipping... and it would make the Six Nations very happy to have all of their land back together.
2) Canadians have always wanted a tropical island for holidays - we could probably be convinced to shift from Florida to Hawaii
3) Your manufacturing centers and our natural resources would complement each other nicely
4) California and New York would benefit from Canadian media and entertainment expertise... you hire all of our journalists, musicians, and comedians anyway.
5) You could move the US capitol to Texas where you seem to want it anyway. We'll take good care of the museums and monuments to justice and liberty in DC.

Please give it some thought....
