Ok - for those of you who don't know me well enough by now, that's tongue in cheek, folks. But, it grows out of an interesting article in The Atlantic on the Superiority Complex in America. According to the article, ICTs have sped up people's ability to only associate and surround themselves with people like themselves. While this makes people feel quite good about themselves, it has the negative consequence of fragmenting society to the point that we don't move outside of our comfort zones to learn about people who may be different from ourselves.

Your thoughts on the article?

WARNING!!! I am trying to kick an addiction to caffeine. I apologize in advance if I snap at anyone in the next week or so. But, I have to do something... Stress at work is piling up and since I can't seem to either decrease my workload or make time for exercise, the only stress-fighting option I have at the moment is cutting the caffeine.

I was puttering around online last night and stumbled across the Odd Girl Out site. The site made me laugh; the research made me think.

Take away message - sometimes having an experience of being marginalized gives people the power to speak their mind and to become strong leaders.

For some reason, this reminded me of my earlier update on research on crucible experiences that allow leaders to emerge.
